Trip to Agra
‘The real voyage of discovery is not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes’
On April 14,2017, the students of classes P5 – S4 of The Modern School, ECNCR started their trip to the city Agra. The legacy of the Mughal empire has left a magnificent fort and a liberal sprinkling of fascinating tombs and mausoleums. The students were excited to see the city and didn’t let the heat spoil their trip.
Day 1 the students saw the massive Agra Fort and the glorious Fatehpur Sikri, where they learnt about the Mughal rulers-Akbar, Jahangir, Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb. The students were amazed to know about the three wives of Akbar and were spellbound to see the architecture of the forts. After visiting the great monuments, the students relaxed in the hotel. They were given an activity to un-jumble the words and colour the motifs, which they did enthusiastically.
Day 2 saw the magical allure of the Taj Mahal. After a hearty breakfast, the students with their energy on a high started towards The Taj. As the students entered the courtyard, they were awestruck by the beauty of the monument. The simplicity of the monument mesmerized the students so much that they bought a souvenir of Taj for home.
The students enjoyed the short and sweet trip thoroughly and got to know a lot about one of the biggest empires of the country. They promised themselves to take care of their heritage and not let anyone ruin it. They returned home with a smile and with a hope to take such trips in the future.
