Education is not only about Academics but also about a holistic approach towards learning. The co-curricular activities like Dance, Music, Art, Sports, Workshops and Life Skills Activities help the students express their emotions, understand their own creativity and skills, teach them team work and jolt their imagination.
The Modern School, ECNCR took initiative to organize various Life Skills workshops for the students from March 14 – 22, 2017 in collaboration with Hindustan Times. The workshops gave an insight into different domains of life skills, handling different stages of age, exploring creative ways to reuse waste newspapers and managing emotions etc.
The workshop on Formal Etiquettes was held on March 14, 2017 wherein the resource person, Mr. Bhavesh explained that the role of note worthy etiquettes is extremely important while interacting with people. He demonstrated how to create a positive impression with good manners. He further explained the 5s of Formal Etiquettes.
Creativity allows us to modify and develop our surroundings. It also lets us create and invent new ideas, structures and technologies.
Mr. Bhavesh demonstrated many ways to reuse old newspapers during the workshop on March 15, 2017. It was a practical way to beautify things and reuse newspapers by using creativity and imagination. Students enthusiastically indulged in beautiful craftwork like wall hangings, butterflies and many other things. The workshop on Adolescent Development held on March 17, 2017 dealt with problems of adolescents and different stages of a child’s development. The resource person explained the various physical, emotional and hormonal changes experienced at this stage and guided the students how to deal with them effectively and positively.
The session on Anger Management was held on March 21, 2017 which provided guidance to the students about how to manage anger in a positive manner, improving personal relationships and thus quality of life.
The students were also familiarized with various Western Dance forms like Hip Hop and Dub step on March 22, 2017. The students learned the steps with delightful enthusiasm.
The story telling session for P3 – P5 students gave them the perfect opportunity to delve into the beautiful world of fantasy and fun.
The students of classes P1 – P2 participated in various competitions like Fancy Dress Competition, Folk / Classical Dance Competition, Mono Acting and Story Telling Competition. The audience marveled at the beautiful performances. The students also indulged in a plethora of activities like Spell Bee, Gardening and Plantation, Life Skills and Open Air Art Activity. The activities enhanced the knowledge of the students and gave wings to their creativity.
Ms. Anita, the school counselor took an interactive session on ‘fine dining etiquettes’ on March 16, 2017 for the students of classes S1-S4. She demonstrated dos and don’ts of fine dining etiquettes that can make eating out a memorable experience. The students also enacted a scene at a restaurant to put their learning to use. The students had an amazing time learning their favourite musical instruments like Guitar, Casio, Sitar etc. They also had a live session on making Mosaic Ganpati, Mural Paintings, Pencil Sketches, Leaf Paintings and Clay Craft. The exquisite illusion art, pattern work and vivid Madhubani made by the students were awe inspiring. The students in particular had a gala time playing various games like Kho-Kho, Fire in the Mountain, Dog in the Pond which are the age old games usually termed as traditional.
Students also played House-wise Matches thus learning Teamspirit, Sportsmanship, Discipline and Resilience. The wonderful matches of cricket and kho-kho played between students and teachers with healthy competitive spirit strengthened their bond and were full of fun and enjoyment.
The school organized a Class wise Art Competition on March 22, 2018 and March 23, 2018 for class Nursery to S4. The praiseworthy exhibition of work and talent could be seen on canvasses as the hues spread on them to create wonders.
The activities held during this time rejuvenated the students reigniting the passion and channelizing the energies. The students who won laurels for their exemplary art work in the Class wise Art Competition held on March 22, 2018 were:
