The Modern School, ECNCR celebrated its Annual Sports Day with great zeal, excitement and gusto on February 2, 2019. The field adorned with white and blue balloons, colourful flags; young modernites in their house uniforms ready to showcase their passion, hard work and determination through various sports events ,looked resplendent.
An Arjuna awardee and accomplished hockey player, Ms. Pritam Rani Siwach was the Chief Guest of the day and Mr. Amit Saroha, a quadriplegia Paralympian presided over the event as the Guest of Honour .The Principal, Ms. Abha Sadana welcomed the dignitaries and parents assembled for the day,elucidating the achievements of the talented sports stars of the school.
The torch lighting ceremony was presided over by the Chief Guest, as the sports achievers of the school took a round of the ground passing over the torch to each other. The event commenced with the four houses displaying steady and rhythmic synchronization as well as strength in unity, as the marching band minstrelled along with the marching troops. The Chief Guest declared the meet open and released the school calendar, which marked the beginning of a mesmerising and energetic show of various drills and races.
The students showcased Umbrella drill, Zumba drill, Taekwondo and Yoga, enthralling the audience with their euphoric performances.
Once the races began, the air was filled with cheers and applause for the young athletes.
Students of classes P1 to S6 competed in events including, sprints, relays and various races.
The best march past trophy was won by Shiwalik House and the overall Best House trophy was awarded to Himalaya House. The Headmistress, Ms. RimpyVerma proposed a vote of thanks to all the guests and parents present on the occasion
The event culminated with National Anthem.
