The Modern School, ECNCR, celebrated ‘Book Week’ for classes Nursery & KG from April 17 to April 21, 2017. Books are the best friends of a man. Keeping the same in mind, several activities were outlined for the week, in order to strengthen the bond of the students with their best friends i.e ‘books’. The first activity was titled as ‘My favourite book’ in which the students exhibited their creativity by designing and decorating the book cover of their favourite book with colours and glitter dust. The second activity was book mark making, in which the students made handy book marks that looked like caterpillars. These caterpillars found space to hibernate in their books as a token of remembrance of this week. The following day, students were all the more delighted and immensely enjoyed listening to the puppet story from a book ‘Three little pigs’.
In order to help students develop the habit of reading, every student was asked to donate a story book to their class library. The Pandora box of books collected would be shared and issued to each student on a regular basis. This marked the end of the book week which would indeed prove to be instrumental in developing the habit of reading and love for books among students.
