The Modern School, ECNCR celebrated Independence Day on Wednesday August 9, 2017 with great zeal and enthusiasm. The school embellished in the hues of tricolour, looked exquisite and resonated with the spirit of patriotism. The day commemorated the sovereignty of our nation. The Chief Guest, Ms. Lata Vaidyanathan, Director, TERI Prakriti School, Gurgaon unfurled the tricolor flag and the National Anthem sung in unison expressed the joy of our 70 years of freedom. It was a perfect day to inaugurate the cricket pitch as cricket is one sport that brings the entire nation together.
The programme commenced with the words of Sarojini Naidu that reminded everyone that the citizens of India are bound together with one hope, one purpose and one devotion towards a great, divinely-destined goal of ‘Vasudev Kutumbkam’. It was followed by the lamp lightning ceremony and felicitation of the guests. Thereafter, The Principal, Ms. Abha Sadana welcomed the august gathering and elucidated the significance of Independence Day.
The students presented an evoking musical drama, ‘Aaina’ that showcased the diversity of our nation. It also portrayed how our motherland is still bound by the shackles of innumerable problems. The dance drama was thought provoking and suggested that it’s only the youth who can break these shackles to make India, an evolving nation. The presentation was well appreciated by the audience and the hall reverberated with the sound of applause.
The honourable Chief Guest, Ms. Lata Vaidaynathan congratulated the students for the spectacular show and urged the students to understand the meaning of freedom and strive to attain it in its true sense. She further laid emphasis on the need for a sustainable world and how each one of us can contribute to community development.
The vote of thanks was given by the Headmistress, Ms. Rimpy Verma.
The day ended with an ecstatic kite flying session of parents, students and staff.
