The Modern School, ECNCR hosted a Bharatanatyam Dance Recital by renowned artist Ms. Rama Vaidyanathan under the aegis of Spic Macay on December 11, 2017 in the School Assembly Hall.

The honoured guest was accompanied by other artists including Shree Sumod Sreedharan on Mridangam, Shree K Venkateshwaramas the vocalist, Sh. Rajat Prasanna on flute and Dr. S.Vasudevam on Nattuvangam.

A cordial welcome was accorded by the honourable Principal, Ms Abha Sadana. Ms. Rimpy Verma, Headmistressof the school conveyed the vote of thanks to the entire team for their inspiring performances and motivational words. After the auspicious lamp lighting, the Bharatnatyam exponent performed four different dances.

She began with a performance on a poem by Kalidasa written on the great Himalayas. The audience was enthralled with her next two performances depicting the mischief of Lord Krishna as well as the ecstatic and mesmerizing dances of Lord Krishna and the gopis. The danseuse then performed on ‘Vande Matram’ with a succession of rhythmic and choreographic sequences that were awe inspiring.

Throughout the performance, Ms. Vaidyanathan interacted with the students elucidating every piece and making them sing a famous rendition of the great poet, Surdas. The students were spellbound and rapturously applauded the performances.

The recitals in collaboration with Spic Macay are organized at The Modern School, ECNCR to increase awareness about different aspects of Indian heritage and culture. They inspire the young minds to imbibe the values embedded in them, with the hope that the beauty, grace, values and wisdom embodied in these arts will influence their thinking and way of leading life.
