A CBSE Webinar on ‘Health and Wellness Series: Building Hope and Resilience- second part’ was conducted online on May 20, 2021 for all the teachers, parents and students. It aimed at providing psycho social support to all during the unprecented times.
The panel comprised of Mr. Manoj Ahuja, Chairman, CBSE and Mrs. Rama Sharma (Facilitator) , Head of Media & Public Relations, CBSE accompanied by two students as peer leaders, Dr. Jitendra Nagpal (Moderator), Director Principal, DPS Gurugram, Mrs. Aditi Misra, Principal, Springdales School, Pusa Road, Dr. Ameeta Mulla Wattal and Mrs. Sunita S. Rao, Principal, DPS Secundrabad.
The series was devoted to the psychological status of the teachers, students and their parents. It focused on the fall outs of the lockdown, as a consequence of the Covid -19 pandemic. It also focused on the unfortunate experiences of the students, teachers and parents, due to the fatalities caused by the pandemic. It further outlined the ways which could help everyone erase them from their minds.
The important points that were taken up during the discussion were:
1. Introduction of peer leaders in the virtual school environment, wherein the students could learn from their peers and could help each other by bridging the gap. The role of a peer leader was defined as the one who could help his mates utilise their time in constructive and entertaining activities like dancing, singing, cooking etc as well as encourage them to avoid social media platforms for self-good.
2. The importance of the role of counsellors and teachers in communicating with students as well as their families was also reiterated.
The solutions in various scenarios were explained with a hope that with constant counselling from peers, counsellors and teachers, students would come to terms with the new reality of virtual classrooms and studies.
