The Modern School, ECNCR organised an educational excursion to India Gate for the students of class P2 on January 30, 2020. The excitement was in the air as the students got ready to leave for the day. Before leaving, the students were given a brief about the monument. They were told that it was a memorial built in the honor of Indian soldiers who had died in various battles.
At the memorial, the students were shown the ‘Amar Jawan Jyoti’ (the flame symbolic of immortal soldiers) which burns in a shrine under the arch of India Gate.
The students were filled with a sense of pride, as they looked up to see the names of scores of brave Indian soldiers inscribed on the walls for their valiant sacrifice. They were also shown the three flags, each signifying the three armed forces of independent India.
Afterward, everyone moved to the lawns surrounding India Gate and took a short break there. As the group got ready to leave, each one of them, turned once more in awe and to pay homage to the shrine. The students stood in a row saluting the magnificent monument in honor of those fearless men whose names were engraved.
