The Modern School, ECNCR, celebrated ‘Book Week’ for classes Nursery & KG from April 29 to May 3, 2019. Books are our best friends. Keeping the same in mind, several activities were outlined for the week, in order to strengthen the bond of the students with their best friends i.e. ‘books’. The first activity was the story telling sessions taken up by two volunteers from the parent fraternity of class KG.

The students were delighted and immensely enjoyed, listening to the stories such as ‘Cat and the Piece of Cake’, ‘Jack and the bean stock’ and many more. The next day they visit the school library and indulged in BookMark Making activity. Students made handy bookmarks using stars and paper flowers. These bookmarks were taken home as beautiful mementos of the week. On the final day of the week, these students were found engrossed in a Book designing activity, where in they made a spiral book of the alphabet, numbers, swar and vyanjan. The book would be further used as a reference book to teach them.

In order to help the students develop the habit of reading, every student was asked to donate a story book and contribute for their class library. The school also organized a ‘Book Fair’ for the students of all age groups. This marked the end of the book week ,which indeed proved to be instrumental in developing the habit of reading and love for books among students.
