Book Week 2019-20 (S1-S7)

To sensitize its students and inculcate reading habits, The Modern School, ECNCR organised ‘Book Week’ from April 29 to May 03, 2019.
An annual event, the ‘Book Week’ commenced with a special assembly reiterating the importance of reading books. It was a fun packed week that witnessed great exhilaration and excitement all around the school campus wherein children were immersed in a plethora of activities to develop an understanding of how books can entertain and inspire all of us.
To promote and highlight the importance of reading as a priority, D.E.A.R ( Drop Everything And Read) session was conducted for classes S1-S7 on Day 1.
Students of classes S2-S7 got an opportunity to meet an eminent author, Dr. DevikaRangachari who shared the art of writing and her love for it with them. She shared her inspiring experiences and held lively discussions with the students. She further discussed the base to develop a story. Students shared many instances and tried to develop stories instantly.
Scholastic Book Fair was also inaugurated on Day 2 by the Principal, Ms. AbhaSadana and the Headmistress, Ms. RimpyVerma along with the children of class S7. A wide range of books categories from all literary genres were displayed in the fair. Students of all classes visited the book fair and picked up their favorite books for reading.
Mr. Ajit Narayan, a professional cartoonist, drawing for various print media for the last 20 years conducted a ‘cartooning workshop’ for classes P4-S3. He demonstrated various ways to express different emotions and situations, which children enjoyed immensely. He also instructed the students how to draw cartoons more tactfully.
Students of classes S1-S3 participated enthusiastically in ‘Book Cover Design’ Contest. ‘Creative Writing Contest’ was organized for classes S4-S7.
It was a week full of fun and learning which provided children with lots of words, adventure, activities, expansion of knowledge and enjoyment!. The Principal, Ms. Abha Sadana and the Headmistress, Ms. Rimpy Verma encouraged the students to be avid readers throughout their lives.
