Book Week 2020

Unpropitious circumstances did not prevent the modernites to read, learn and grow. Every year we organise a ‘Book Week’ to enhance the literary skills of our students and inculcate in them good reading habits.

Keeping the tradition alive amidst the lockdown, The Modern School, ECNCR organised Book Week from May 11, 2020 to May 16, 2020.

The week was dedicated to promote and highlight the importance of reading as a priority. Special assembly was conducted wherein students presented a talk, thought and talent mirroring the theme that is importance of reading books.

For students of classes P1 to P5, various activities were conducted including Show-N-Tell activity, Listen a story, Book Mark making activity and My favorite story character etc.

Art work was also integrated with books, where children drew their favorite book character, showcasing their joy of reading through their art work.

A good story telling can do wonders to a child’s imagination and can really work at enhancing his/her expression. It was this thought that led us to arrange a storytelling video for students of classes KG-P2. Online links were also shared with students regarding many books according to their level.

Students of classes S1 to S3 participated in ‘Limerick Writing’ and ‘Book Talk’ activities. Art Work was integrated in the form of ‘Book Cover Design’, ‘Book Poster making’, ‘Composition on Favourite Book’ through which they showcased their love of reading in the form of art.

Children also participated in Hindi creative reading and writing work .Children read Hindi stories and poems, wrote wisdom quotes, paragraphs etc. as part of their ‘Hindi Creative Writing’ activity.

Students of classes S4 to S7 indulged in ‘Book Review’ and ‘Book Talk’ activities. Art work was integrated in the form of ‘Making Caricature of Authors’. Classes S4 & S5 participated in Hindi creative reading and writing work in the form of ‘Hindi Story Writing’.

Amidst the lockdown during these challenging times, it was a week full of learning, reading and writing blended with art work.
