CBSE Science Exhibition 2019-20
To encourage and inculcate scientific temper among its students, The Modern School, ECNCR participated in the regional CBSE Science Exhibition held at Delhi Public School, Gurugram, Haryana from November 28 to November 29, 2019.
Sauhard Sharma (class S6), Hritik Saroha (class S6), and Anish Roy Jain(class S4) participated in the exhibition. The students presented two exhibits – Sound based fire extinguisher and Hydrophobic Materials. Both of the exhibits aimed to save water on a large scale. It was great exposure for the students as more than 120 schools participated in this exhibition from various regions of Haryana & Delhi. The participating teams shared their creative ideas and solutions to everyday challenges through their innovative exhibits, and presentations supported by reports, display, and research findings. Out of the two exhibits presented by the modernites, ‘Sound based fire extinguisher’ was shortlisted to participate further in the Nationals by the CBSE Judges’ panel.
The model is based on the principle of reducing the temperature of the flame source and eventually cutting off the oxygen supply around the flame. With evolution of this technology, the extinguishing of fires at residential and commercial places would be extremely easy and thus completely eliminate the use of water. Another great objective of this model is to save lives of our firefighters who, until now have to manually enter the danger zones and physically fight fires bearing high temperatures. If installed on drones, the sound-based fire extinguishers would be controlled remotely from a safer distance. The exhibition was truly a learning experience and provided a golden opportunity to the students to showcase their talent, imagination and creativity.
