‘Being green and clean is not just an aspiration but an action.’
Today is the time of virtual learning; so is the celebration. The students of classes Nursery- P5 of The Modern School, ECNCR celebrated ‘Cleanliness Week’ from July 13 to July 17, 2020. The main aim to celebrate this week was to inculcate the habit of keeping oneself clean at all times and in every manner including the environment around us especially during the pandemic that the whole world is facing today.

Day 1 was dedicated to Personal Hygiene. The students from classes P3-P5 shared their videos on personal hygiene and what one must do to keep themselves neat and tidy. The importance of taking bath every day, washing hands before and after meals, method to wash our hands properly and the most important to trim nails were highlighted.

Day 2 focused on Keeping House Clean. The students of class P5 showed various ways to keep the house clean by regular dusting, keeping it neat and tidy, not to spill food while eating and to keep the kitchen germs free.

Day 3 emphasised on Keeping Our Surroundings Clean as cleaning doesn’t mean only to keep oneself or the house clean. It also means to keep our surroundings clean. The students also gave the message in their videos to reduce the use of air-conditioners. They displayed how the garbage should be thrown in the garbage bin, one must not litter and plant more and more trees for clean and green environment

Day 4 threw light on How to Keep our Garden Clean. It was emphasised that all the trash from the garden should be collected at once place. Dried leaves and twigs should be thrown in a pit to convert it into compost.

On Day 5, the tiny tots of P1and P2 presented a poem recitation using props on Cleanliness Drive. On the other hand, Nursery and KG students created dustbins from best out of waste material available at home.

The students were apprised of the Government initiative ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ and its benefits as well as the importance of keeping oneselves and the surroundings clean. The young modernites participated in the celebration with full passion and enthusiasm.
