DRDO Visit
A group of seven students and two faculty members of The Modern School ECNCR visited the Solid State Physics Laboratory (DRDO, Delhi) on March 6, 2019. The students were guided through the highly secured laboratories by three senior scientists - Dr Seetharaman, Dr Sadana and Dr Verma. The students were initially briefed about the exclusive areas of research, currently being pursued by DRDO.
Later, the students got an unparalleled experience of entering a cryogenic laboratory where they were amazed to witness the working of infrared imaging systems of night vision cameras used by the Indian Army.
To everyone’s surprise, the scientists welcomed the students to touch the tip of a sterling engine device that was kept at a temperature of -195 o C. The visit culminated with Dr Seetharaman shaking hands with the students individually and motivating them to take up research as their prospective career. Indeed, it was once in a lifetime experience for the students.
