John Muir said “Keep close to Nature's heart.... Wash your Spirit cleanâ€
The Modern School, ECNCR celebrated Earth Day with joy and verve, through multidisciplinary activities on April 22 and 23, 2019. Each activity demonstrated and promoted awareness and the need to preserve and conserve Mother Earth.
A special assembly was put up by the students of P1-P5 highlighting the importance of Mother Earth. Students of P1 and P2 gave a show and tell presentation on trees and a scintillating dance performance on ‘We are together forever and forever’ on the theme ‘Save Earth’.
Students of P3 to P5 outlined the plight of endangered species, dressed as an Asian Elephant, Tiger, and Blue Whale. They portrayed the seriousness of the situation.
The choir song ‘Heal the World’ sung by the students, exhibited the desire and need to coexist as species. The power point presentation highlighted the alarming condition of the earth, causes and effects of global warming, melting glaciers, extinction of species etc. Measures that could be taken by the students to save Earth and reduce global warming were discussed. Students took a pledge to plant more trees, save water and use public transport to contribute towards the cause.
The Headmistress, Ms. Rimpy Verma, in her address urged the students to become the ‘Voice of Change’ and spread environmental literacy around them.
