Students of classes Nursery to P2 were made aware of the natural calamities like earthquake through a virtual drill . This was done with the purpose to teach them the basic life skill of safe evacuation at the time of an earthquake at home or in the school. They were taught how to perform ‘DROP, COVER and HOLD’ activity under the tables, desks and chairs until the earthquake came to an end. They were also briefed about the vitality of getting away from the buildings, electricity-wires, trees, light poles and other potential threats. The drill to evacuate the building in a systematic manner without creating panic, after the tremors cease was also discussed with them . It was reiterated that it was essential to drop down on their knees and cover their head and neck until the shaking of earth ceased. They were motivated to stay calm and patient and encouraged to help others in such a situation. It was a very informative and enriching learning experience for the young modernites.
