Emergency Health Care Programme

The Modern School, ECNCR organised a workshop on Emergency Health Care Programme on November 11, 2019, in the school premises for the students of classes S3, S4, and S6. The workshop was organised under the able guidance of Dr. Ela Anand, a retired member of the Board of Trustees and alumni of Modern School, Barakhamba a part of centenary celebrations of Modern School.

The aim of the workshop was to equip the students to handle an emergency situation and provide lifesaving treatment in the event of a medical emergency. Ms. Paula Hamilton, a paramedic from NIAS (Northern Ireland Ambulance Service Health and Social Care Trust) and Mr. Chris Callen, Emergency Medical Technician were the guest trainers for the day, who apprised the students about the value of first aid and its dissemination through a Powerpoint presentation as well as a practical demonstration.

The speakers elucidated the role of a first aider as the one to preserve life, to prevent the condition from becoming worse and to promote recovery. They also emphasized on the ABC of the priorities of a First aid treatment i.e. Airway, Breathing and Circulation. An emergency action plan was also described in detail and how to handle situations in the case of seizers, wounds, bleedings, fractures etc. were also clarified. A question-answer session was also held followed by a demonstration presented by the students on the basis of what they had learned throughout the session.

Thereafter, the Principal, Ms. Abha Sadana proposed the vote of thanks to the esteemed guests for their valuable guidance and training. The workshop was interactive and enriching as it helped the students to be prepared with the essential skills that can be life-saving.
