Guru Purab

The Modern School ECNR celebrated Gurupurab on November 3, 2017. Special assemblies were conducted to celebrate the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Devji, the founder of Sikh religion. A German Delegation comprising of German teachers and teacher trainers attended the senior wing assembly. The students in their talk highlighted the fact that during these celebrations, Guru Granth Sahib is read in a simple ceremony lasting 48 hours.

The students of Nursery and KG gathered in the assembly hall. The programme started with the recital of ‘Ek Onkar’ followed by a talk delivered by Gyan Manchanda of KG-B, wherein he highlighted the importance of the special day. The tiny tots relished the offerings of ‘Kada Prasad’. Serenity floated in the air with the humming of ‘Ek Onkar’ and it paved the way for a very fruitful and productive day.

The students of classes P1 and P2 also celebrated the day with great zeal and fervour. The assembly started with a religious shabad by Agamjot Singh of class P1 D which created a tranquility and peaceful aura in the hall. Sanat Jain of class P1 A talked about Guru Nanak Devji and his teachings. Mrigank of class P1 A danced to the tunes of bhangra and exhibited the vibrant ambience of Punjab, where the festival is celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm.

On the other hand, the students of classes S1 – S4 celebrated the festival with deep understanding of the festival’s historical relevance.

A cultural presentation that left the German delegation in awe was presented by the students to welcome the guests. Sylvia and Angelica Hoff shared their experience about India and spoke at length about its cultural and religious diversity outlined in particular the celebrations of the day.
