Himalaya House Assembly-World Population Day
The students of Himalaya House of classes P3-P5 and S1-S7 conducted a special assembly on 'World Population Day' on July 8 and 9, 2021 on a virtual platform.
The initiative was taken in the year 1989 by the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The purpose was to update the students about the current and concerning status of population all over the world, its reasons and repercussion on the entire humanity. Through an interesting and informative assembly, everyone was sensitized about the need to stabilize population. The students in the Primary wing understood the harmful effects of population growth through a short video prepared by the students of class P3 and a cultural presentation too. . Both the presentation and video linked the menace of population increase with issues like poverty, unemployment, lack of education and accommodation, pollution and destruction of environment.
The senior wing highlighted the issues related to the topic of global overpopulation. The thought of the day and talk focused on overpopulation in the world and how it has become one of the biggest problems faced by the world in the present times. The assemblies aimed at educating the youth, who could bring about a population revolution globally and help in combating the population issue.
