Independence Day (Nur-P5)

Freedom in the Mind,
Faith in the words …
Pride in our souls …
Let’s salute the nation on this auspicious day.

The students of the Primary Wing of The Modern School, ECNCR Delhi celebrated the 74th Independence Day on August 13, 2020 with much enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. The tiny tots of classes Nursery and K.G. sang patriotic songs and danced merrily on ‘Nanhamunnarahi’ immersed in the spirit of patriotism. Avni Jain of class KG- A spoke about the relevance of Independence Day and also urged all her fellow classmates to value the freedom that we enjoy today. Kashvi of class KG-B showcased her talent by singing - ' Hum hongeKamyaabek din'. The students also made a tri-color cap under the guidance of their teachers and felt thrilled to wear it.

The special assembly of classes P1 –P5 commenced with a short PowerPoint Presentation through which the students were acquainted with the importance of Independence Day. It is the day when we remember the freedom fighters who had laid their lives for us to breathe freely in an independent nation. Morning prayer ‘Hardesh main tu...harvesh main tu...’ was sung by Ms. Pranamika Goswami. The Principal, Mrs. Abha Sadana addressed the students and shared details about India’s struggle for freedom with the students and also enumerated the duties that we as a responsible citizen should perform. It was followed by the news headlines and weather forecast presented by Sanat Jain of class P4D and Medhansh Jain of class P2 B. The ‘Thought for the Day’ was presented by Mehran Saini of class P3C and Saumya Jain of class P2 B wherein they highlighted the fact that freedom is something that we Indians have struggled for and finally achieved it so we should value and respect it. Ayaan Goel of class P5C and ManharMehra of class P2 C spoke about why this day was so auspicious for all the Indians. A beautiful patriotic poem was recited by Devansh Goel of class P4B and Kiaan Jain of class P1 C that focused on our love for our motherland.

Now was the time for the most awaited moment of the assembly where the young blue modernites stole everyone’s hearts by their scintillating performances. Shivangi Choudhary of class P5D, RihanaNagpal of class P3B, GurmeherDhall of class P1 A, Serena Gandhi of class P1 A, Saisha Sachdeva of class P1 B, Kabbir Gupta of class P2 C and DvitiNandwani of class P2 C performed magnificently on patriotic songs. Sehaj Kaur of class P4D mesmerised everyone with ‘Vande Mataram’ on her keyboard. The group dances presented by the students of classes P3-P5 highlighted the essence of being a free nation. Beautiful pleasing paintings on the patriotic theme created by the modenrites were also displayed during the special assembly.

The special virtual assembly culminated with the Vote of Thanks by our respected Headmistress, Ms. Rimpy Verma. The celebrations aimed at instilling the virtues of love and harmony among modernites.
