The students of The Modern School, ECNCR attended lectures conducted by the Indian Space Research Organization from December 4, 2020, to December 10, 2020. The lectures were also streamed live on YouTube. The objective of the sessions was to sensitize students about the changing climatic and weather conditions and their implications on society. Dr. Prakash Chauhan from ISRO and Dr. Arijit Roy from IIRS, Dehradun shared their vast knowledge about the uncertainties of weather patterns and the associated disaster management techniques required. The students got the know-how of how Science can help develop a framework that predicts impending disasters such as floods, droughts, cyclones etc., and their earliest recovery procedures using space data and other evidence. The objective is to ensure that humanity at large can benefit from the combined efforts of the scientists and common man. The sessions were indeed fruitful and they inspired the youth of today to actively participate in taking care of the planet as well as help in creating awareness.
