Jhankaar- 2018
The Cultural Society and Interact Club of The Modern School, ECNCR organized an Inter School Cultural Event- Jhankaar on August 21, 2018 in the school premises.
The aim of the event was to promote the cultural heritage of India and sensitize the youth of the country to the rich legacy. About 90 students from fifteen schools participated in the Vocal Music and Classical Dance competitions.
The event commenced with lighting of the traditional lamp followed by Saraswati Vandana sung by the choir of the school. The Principal, Ms. Abha Sadana welcomed the distinguished guests.
Judges of the event were Mrs. Anita Babu a famous Odissi dancer more than 15 years of experience in teaching Odissi dance in her school Odissi Natya Sala in Delhi and Dr. Vikas Phondni a young Vocalist who specialises in the North Indian Classical style Khayal. The guest speaker, Dr Esther Amalia Schmidt, Assistant Professor of O.P. Jindal University spoke about the need to conserve our culture and traditions and how every citizen can contribute to preserve the heritage of the country.
The participants from different schools enthralled the audience with their talent as aspiring classical singers and dancers. It was mesmerizing to see the budding artists performing confidently and flawlessly, paying homage to their heritage.
Sidhi Dashora of The Modern School, BPTP, Faridabad, Aadya Jain of The Modern School, ECNCR, and Navita of Rishikul World Academy, Sonipat won the first, second and third positions in Vocal Music Competition in the Group A Category for classes IV-VI.
The first, second and third winners of Vocal Music Competition in the Group B Category for classes VII-X were Pulkit Verma of The Modern School, ECNCR, Chavi Dhingra of Holy Child Sr. Sec. School, Sonipat and Yashita Jetli of DAVM, Sonipat respectively.
Aaira Dalpatia, Aadya Khattar and Radhika Gidwani of The Modern School, ECNCR bagged the first, second and third positions in Classical Dance Competition in the Group A Category for classes IV-VI.
Samairah Ahuja of Modern School, Barakhamba Road, Anika Tandon of Modern School, Barakhamba Road and Reva Srivastava of Vikas Bharti Public School, Pitampura, Delhi stood first, second and third in Classical Dance Competition in the Group A Category for classes VI-X respectively.
Jasmine of Jankidas Kapoor Public School, Sonipat, Abhishyant of Jankidas Kapoor Public School, Sonipat, Mannat Sabti of Modern School, Barakhamba Road and Mansa Gautam of The Modern School, ECNCR were awarded with the Jury Award for their exemplary performances.
The judges while speaking on the occasion appreciated all the participants and applauded the efforts of the school for promoting Indian art and culture. The scintillating performances were a kaleidoscope of the Indian legacy and heritage.
The memorable event culminated with a vote of thanks proposed by the Headmistress, Ms. Rimpy Verma.
