Language Week
‘To learn a language is to have one more window from which to look at the world’.
Learning a new language provides children a new platform to understand the world from a totally new perspective, encouraging them to embrace new customs and cultural nuances.
To highlight the importance of language in today’s world, Nur-P2 classes celebrated ‘Language Week’ from February 20-February 24, 2023. The entire week was filled with fun learning activities for our young modernites.
The commencement of the language week saw children of class Nursery engaged in a fun activity-Listen and Follow, wherein they carefully listened to the instructions given by the teacher and followed the same. They also enjoyed playing the game-Simon Says with the class teacher.
Class KG students learned how to say ‘hello’ in different Indian languages. Classes P1-P2 enjoyed Word games and homonyms using flash cards and word builders.
The students also learned new vocabulary in Hindi, English , French and German through pictures , self introduction and alphabet cards.
The third day focused on speaking skills as Nursery students were apprised about different languages spoken in various Indian states and KG students presented an Ad Mad Show wherein they advertised products with their beautiful props .Students of classes P1 and P2 indulged in a picture description activity and showcased their varied prespectives and language skills.The little ones were encouraged to use simple and lucid language.
A moral story narration activity was held the next day for classes Nursery, P1 and P2.Students of class KG learned to say thank you in different International languages
The week culminated with a special assembly wherein the importance of language as a medium to communicate was highlighted and reiterated.
It presented a wonderful opportunity for the students to reflect on the role languages play in our lives.
