Life Skills Activities- ‘Hem-Stitch and Table Manners'

‘No job is too big and no effort too small.’

A student of the 21st century should be well equipped in all aspects of life to take each day head-on and emerge victorious. A dynamic 'Life Skills Education' gives strength to handle any kind of situation and courage to face struggle to achieve any target.

The students of S1 and S2 were taught ‘Hem-Stitching’ on April 22, 2022, as a part of this special curriculum. Using just three materials i.e. a needle, a piece of cloth and a thread of contrast color, students learned not only how to stitch but a way to become independent and self-sufficient in their lives. The activity took place in the classrooms in the presence of class teachers who guided and motivated them to learn and hone a new life skill. Students displayed great enthusiasm and helped each other showcasing compassion and a spirit of association.

'Table Manners' activity was held for class S3 to equip students with all the required skills to present themselves in a global environment and instill social confidence. A demonstration of how to use different utensils and cutlery on a dining table as well as to lay a table for dining was given in the school hostel mess. They also learned about the right body language during dining in a formal environment.

Learning about such life skills enhance confidence,  boost self-esteem and prepare children for real life.
