‘Modayhem: A Tapestry of Talent Where Tradition Meets Modernity’
‘Through the lens of culture, we find beauty in diversity and strength in unity.’
The Cultural Society of The Modern School, ECNCR, organised an Inter School Cultural Fest- ‘Modayhem’ on May 9, 2024 in the school premises.
The aim of the event was to celebrate diversity, promote talent, foster creativity, and build a sense of community among students. It helped in promoting our cultural heritage and sensitizing the youth of our country to our rich legacy. This event was a platform for students to showcase their artistic, musical and dancing skills while learning about different cultures and traditions. Fifteen schools from Delhi NCR participated zealously in various cultural competitions.
The event commenced with the lighting of the traditional lamp followed by ‘Saraswati Vandana’ sung by the choir of the school.
Dr. Jyoti Srivastava, the renowned Odissi dancer graced the occasion as the Chief guest.
The Principal, Mr. Rajiv Shrivastav accorded a warm welcome to the guests. During his adress, he urged the young artists to persevere, learn from experience and gain wisdom. Captain Activity, Jaagruti Singh welcomed the participants and highlighted how it's important for the youth of today to be connected with our culture and traditions.
The judges of the event were: for Instrumental music Mr. Gulfam Ahmad, a renowned artist in India , proficient in playing both sarod and rabab, Mr. Garish Channan an eminent artist, a Guru, Mr. Mayukh Bhattacharya, a magnificent dance performer, dance teacher, choreographer and social volunteer, Ms. Shobha Bisht, a dedicated Odissi dancer and a recipient of the SahityaKala Parishad Scholarship, 2015, Dr. Rinja Risa Kaushik, Ph.D from University of Delhi,with angelic voice and proficient in Indian Classical Music, Smt. Aruna Goswami, an approved artist of Akashvani Dehradun for geet & bhajans , Ms.Megha a national and international award winner from College of Art, New Delhi, Mr. Prashant Patil a multidisciplinary artist and academic professional.
The school Head Girl Suhani Nagpal accorded a formal welcome to the Chief guest and all the honourable judges of the event.
The Chief guest, Dr. Jyoti Srivastava expressed her thoughts about the need to conserve our culture, and that one must move ahead following the advancement in the modern world but also hold on to our roots.
The participants captivated the audience with their impressive talents as aspiring classical singers, musicians and dancers. It was mesmerising to see the budding artists performing confidently and flawlessly, paying homage to their heritage.
‘Modayhem’ was a resounding success, providing a platform for students to celebrate diversity, showcase their talents, and forge meaningful connections. The event reminded us of the power of the arts to unite, inspire, and transform lives.
The memorable event culminated with a vote of thanks proposed by the school Head Boy Vinayak Parashar.
