Trip to Singapore

The Modern School, ECNCR organised an educational trip to the charming city of Singapore from May 31, 2018 to June 5, 2018. Students of classes S1-S6 visited the Republic of Singapore, an exquisite island country in South East Asia spread in 137 Kilometers.

Being a global commerce, finance and transport hub, it has the third largest foreign exchange market, third largest oil refining and second busiest container port. The students arrived in Singapore at Changi Airport on June 1, 2018. Post breakfast, they visited the famous Mustafa centre, that offers a unique market style shopping experience. Products are in abundance at low prices with everything from textiles to watches and electronics on sale.

Thereafter, they savoured lunch and checked into Cherry loft, a hotel on Rangoon Road, Singapore which became their humble abode for the next 5 days. Post afternoon siesta, everyone geared up for the promising night safari tour. At dusk the shutters of night safari opened and welcomed the students into the world of nocturnal creatures and their dimly lit homes.

Night safari is the world’s first safari park for nocturnal animals. A 35 minutes tram ride with live commentary took the students across seven geographical zones of the world from the rugged Himalayan foothills to the swampy banks of Equatorial Africa. The awe-inspiring experience of witnessing animals in proximity left everyone enthralled.

 

Day 2 included Singapore city tour which encompassed a ride in Singapore Flyer, the world’s largest observation wheel that offers a magnificent view of the spectacular scenery of Singapore, parts of Malayasia and Indonesia as well. The city tour also included the Merlion, an unofficial mascot of Singapore, Explanade Bridge, Fullerton Bay and Merlion Park that provided a breathe taking view of the city. Enroute, the students also witnessed Little India, Suntec City and City Hall. Soon after a scrumptious lunch, everyone visited the well known Chocolate Factory to collect fresh and delicious chocolates and keyed up for Santosa Island tour.

 

It included the cable car experience that let them witness the captivating Island from miles above. Thereafter, they had the unique experience of visiting Madame Tussauds, the famous wax museum. The museum also unraveled the history of Singapore with captivating theatrical presentation that described vividly the various stages of development in Singapore.

The icing on the cake was the light and water show-‘Wings of Time’, that left everyone spellbound. The show was set in the majestic open sea. The spectacular show mesmerized everyone with the awe inspiring display of water, laser, fire effects and music.

 

The 3rd day saw the students brimming with excitement to experience the thrilling rides at Universal Studios. Universal Studios is South Asia’s first and only universal studio theme park featuring 24 rides, shows and attraction in seven themed zones.

 

The students experienced the world’s first Transformer ride – The Ultimate 3D Battle, World’s Tallest Duelling Roller Coasters, Revenge of the Mummy, Jurassic Park etc. They also witnessed the remarkable shows at Universal Studios such as Water World Show, Shrek 4D Adventure Show, Madagascar Ride and finally the Giant Roller Coaster Journey. The thrilling day was full of bumps and rides that ended up with a quite dinner and sound sleep.

Day 4 was the day of science and discovery, innovation and invention, as the students visited the National Science Center and Imax Theatre that let them explore the world of technology, discovery and advancement. The center made science accessible and engaging for the young modernites. The students assimilated all the information and knowledge gained at the center throughout the day.

 

The final day called for a heart wrenching goodbye to the city of dreams. The visit that culminated the entire tour was made to Jurong Bird Park- Asia’s largest bird paradise that is home to over 5000 free flying aviaries in the world. The tram ride took everyone to the world of colourful feathers belonging to the most exquisite and unique species of birds in the world. The students also witnessed a show presented by the exclusive birds that left everyone fascinated.

 

Post lunch, the group visited City Square Mall to collect souvenirs for their loved ones, before they boarded the flight to India, bidding farewell to Singapore. The students landed in Delhi at 2:20 am on June 6, 2018 with a kaleidoscope of cherished memories and a profound and enriching learning experience.
