Virtual Excursions- S1-S5
Trips and tours are important for new and interactive learning, social interaction and exposure. To enhance students' knowledge and widen their horizons,virtual exxcursions were organised for classes S1 to S5 on April 30, 2022.
Following are the class wise topics for S1 - S5:
S1 – Arctic Animals and Climate
S2 - Exploring the Antarctica
S3 - Four layers of rainforest
S4 - Western Ghats
S5 - Delhi and it's ridg
The students of S1 were acquainted with the northernmost area of Earth i.e. the Arctic Region. They were made aware about the adjoining areas that receive varying snow and are covered with thick layers of ice with almost no trees all around the year. It was emphasised that the region was characterized by cold winters and cool summers. The modernites observed the lives of the animals that live in such harsh weather like muskox, caribou etc. preyed on by Arctic fox , snowy owl and other terrestrial animals and mammals for example seals, wolverines and many varieties of whales.
S2 students were given an opportunity to explore Antarctica virtually. Information about geographic location, types of vegetation, climatic conditions and various amazing facts were shared with the students. A video of an expedition to Antarctica was showcased in which they not only witnessed the coldest planet on the earth but also the flora and fauna of that land such as penguin, seals, algae, mosses etc.
Virtual excursion to the four layers of rainforest was organised for S3 to allow students to have 360° view of different layers of the rainforest. They witnessed the incredible world of flora and fauna with awe.
To make their experience more interesting, a video explaining the different layers of rainforest enhanced their knowledge about Emergent and Canopy Layer. They also learned how well co-ordinated this world is and how we all can learn from nature how to make balance with the mother Earth.
The students of class S4 got the opportunity to virtually visit and explore the grandeur of 'The Western Ghats'. The students became aware about the geographical location, biodiversity, indigenous communities, as well as the various problems that are persistent in the region. They also explored the various steps that have been taken to protect the flora and fauna of the Western Ghats.
The tour to Delhi and its ridge started for class S5 commenced with a PowerPoint presentation followed by a video. The students really enjoyed and enthusiastically put forth their ideas and viewpoints about the monuments of Delhi and its ridge. In a nutshell, they gained immense knowledge about the Delhi city. The session was a great learning experience for all as after the excursion, students participated in an online quiz.
