The students of class P2 of The Modern School, ECNCR visited a nearby shopping mart ‘Big Orange’ on July 27, 2019. The purpose of the visit was to revise the concept of addition and subtraction while teaching them an essential value of knowing the importance of money. Students were asked to bring a small amount for the excursion. It was endearing to witness the skills with which students tried to spend their money wisely and buy various products while calculating the expenditure and left over cash. They also learned the value of sharing, caring and team work as they were seen contributing for others with their left over money to help them buy what they needed. They were thrilled to get the opportunity to be the decision makers for the day. They also learned the concepts with a hands-on experience making the excursion a fruitful one. After the excursion, the students discussed their views with their class teachers, stating that they learned to keep their money safely on their own and to spend it on necessary things only.
