Workshop organised by IIT Delhi
Students of class S6 A attended a workshop organised by IIT Delhi on 'Design thinking and innovative assistive technological solutions for persons with visual impairment' on July 11, 2023.
The event commenced with an introduction by Mr Gaurav Kar, Assistant Professor and Mr. Sabyasachi Paldas, Professor of Practice, renowned experts in the field of assistive technology and design thinking. The workshop aimed to educate and empower students to think creatively and develop practical solutions to enhance the lives of individuals with visual impairments.
The first part of the workshop focused on design thinking, a human-centered approach to problem-solving.
Participants were introduced to the five stages of design thinking: empathise, define, ideate, prototype, and test. Through interactive exercises and case studies, students learned to identify the needs and aspirations of visually impaired individuals and to generate innovative ideas to address those needs. They were further encouraged to explore these solutions and understand how technology can be leveraged to enhance the independence and accessibility of visually impaired individuals. The workshop included an engaging laboratory session wherein participants had hands-on experience with various assistive technological solutions. Under the guidance of the instructors, students gained practical insights into the challenges faced by visually impaired individuals and explored the potential of technology to address those challenges effectively.
