World Population Day
“You cannot control your own population by force, but it can be reduced with education.â€
P3-P4 students of The Modern School ECNCR celebrated World Population Day on July 16, 2019. The purpose was to update the students about the current and concerning status of population all over the world, its reasons and repercussion on the entire humanity.
Through an interesting and informative assembly, everyone was sensitized about the need to stabilize population, while highlighting the impact of the growing population on the country’s economy.
World Population Day is celebrated to increase the awareness of the people towards the worldwide population issues. It was first started in the year 1989 by the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Some of these issues were highlighted in the street play presented by the students of P3 to P5, which aimed at spreading the message that lack of family planning could lead to a disaster and how to avoid the same by having a planned family. The play also linked the menace of population increase with issues like poverty, unemployment, lack of education and accommodation.
An informative PPT was also shown on the topic and explained by P3 students. The assembly aimed at educating the youth who could bring about a population revolution globally and help in combating the population issue. Students took a pledge to render their untiring service towards creating awareness.
Lastly, the Headmistress Ms. Rimpy Verma addressed the students and urged them to believe in humanity, celebration of life but control over multiplication for quality existence.
